About the Apprenticeship:
Position: Apprentice – Metal Fabricator
Location: Bournemouth - with 1 day release at Farnborough College of Technology
Duration: 3 Years

We are offering a structured development opportunity for a Metal Fabricator Apprentice to progress into a fully qualified Sheet Metal Engineer. Under direct supervision, apprentices will gain the skills required to maintain and manufacture aircraft structural components and specialised accessories. Training will include the application of approved maintenance procedures, technical data, and tooling to support the continued airworthiness of our aircraft.
Reporting to Draken’s Talent and Career’s Development Manager the Apprentice is engaged on a 3 long training programme with an additional 6-month period for EPA. On successful completion of all training objectives apprentices should qualify for a NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge). Further business training relating to progression of the role will be provided by the business following analysis of business requirements.

Due to the remoteness of our site and the requirement to attend training at Hartlepool college access to own transportation is required.
Academic Qualifications:
- Must hold level 2 Physics, Maths and English language GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C) or Equivalent
- Previous experience working with hands or within engineering in a personal or professional environment is desirable but not essential.

Interviews for 1 vacancy will take place w/c 29th June 2026. All successful candidates will be invited to an inhouse interview day where candidates will participate in activities throughout the day and be asked to deliver a 10 minute presentation on something engineering related that they are interested in. Successful applicants will be invited back the following day for a formal interview.
