Position - Aircraft Engineer – Mechanical

Hours - This role will be on a 5-5-4 shift pattern, but may require support at weekends

The Role
We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Engineer – Mechanical to support aircraft maintenance activities to the appointed Licensed Aircraft Engineer B1. You will be responsible to the nominated supervisor for the receipt / dispatch and servicing of allocated aircraft which include, daily checks, scheduled maintenance, component replacements, defect rectification / repairs, mandatory inspections, re-configuration of aircraft, and aircraft servicing / refuelling under the supervision of the allocated Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety first: Operate at Draken in accordance with the SHE Technical Standards. Identify where these standards apply to appointed operations/tasks and implement safe systems of work.
- Apply countermeasures identified in applicable risk assessments to appointed operations/tasks.
- Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) reporting culture and work towards continuous safety improvements.
- Conduct all aircraft maintenance tasks in accordance with approved data contained within OEM maintenance publications and ensure compliance with published company procedures.
- Carry out tasks to the best of your ability and certify any work within the terms of company authorisations held. Sign and date all maintenance actions performed in a timely manner.
- Complete worksheets/work cards during maintenance activities and report any additional defects to the supervising LAE. Issue extension work cards as required to ensure proper task breakdown or defect recording. Upon completion, deliver completed worksheets to the supervising LAE for inspection.
- Take responsibility for the maintenance of aircraft tasks allocated by your supervisor.
- Control any material or company equipment provided for the task, maintaining full compliance with tool control and loose article procedures during aircraft maintenance.
- Ensure all test and ground support equipment is serviceable, calibrated, and fit for purpose before use.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of facilities, equipment, tooling, and employee areas within the working environment.
- Assist in conducting monthly workplace inspections and report/rectify any findings.
- Assist in ground movements of aircraft as assigned by your supervisor.
- Support aircraft maintenance activities away from the home base when required.
- Perform any other duties reasonably requested by management within your capability.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
- Good technical English (written and spoken) and basic mathematics.
- Completed Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship, including modules in English, Maths, and Physics.
- Experience in service or commercial aircraft engineering/operations (desirable).
- Ability to work safely in line with risk assessments and technical instructions.
- Good dexterity and ability to use basic maintenance hand tools safely.
- Trustworthy, motivated team member, physically fit to undertake manual tasks around and onboard the aircraft.
- Medically fit and able to perform maintenance tasks within organisational scope.
- Team-oriented with good motivational qualities.
- Ability to work safely while meeting tight delivery deadlines.
- Customer-focused with exceptional personal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, confident, and assertive.
- Able to adopt and follow principles of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated capability to work within and adhere to defined organisational values.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to assist in aircraft recoveries.
- Experience on pressurised and/or unpressurised aircraft.
- IT literate with experience using the MS Office suite.
- Security cleared to meet current UK and ITAR requirements.
- Knowledge of Human Factors.
