The Role

 

Location: Bournemouth

Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:00, Friday 08:00 - 15:30. 37 hours per week.

The Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated NDT Technician – Level 2 to join our Engineering Team. In this role, you will assist the NDT Technician Level 3 (RL3) and support the Aircraft Maintenance Manager in delivering safe, compliant, and high‑quality Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) across Part-145 and/or A8-23 activities.

This position will play a key part in maintaining the operational performance of Draken’s aircraft maintenance operation, including support at remote locations when required. You will perform NDT tasks to regulatory standards while contributing to a culture where safety, quality and compliance come first.

 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
 
NDT is highly regulated and safety, quality and regulatory compliance is held as the priority. The NDT Technician Level 2 must drive and deliver a culture of safety first ahead of schedule, with the highest level of safety and regulatory compliance across all relevant areas. Promoting SHE and Security in relation to the performance of NDT activities is essential. Operational activities are based around customer requirements; therefore, the preparedness to work additional hours, be on call and travel in order to deliver a successful maintenance business is essential.

 

 Key Responsibilities

To maintain the overall performance of NDT within the aircraft maintenance operation. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance

• Promote a “Just Culture” with regard to safety and reporting of occurrences within the business

• To be particularly responsible for the NDT of aircraft and aircraft equipment as allocated by their supervisor.

• Supporting aircraft away from home base when necessary, including scheduled operations or defect assessments on an ad-hoc basis.

• Ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe and proper manner and in accordance with the relevant Maintenance Manuals, and the Company Exposition.

• To ensure the correct and timely completion of all documentation relating to the NDT activities performed.

• To co-ordinate with other engineering activities, enabling the NDT and aircraft maintenance teams to complete tasks to target and within budget

• Ensure work areas are always kept clean and tidy.

• Evaluate all existing standards, practices, and procedures with a view to continuous improvement and efficiency

• Assist the NDT Level 3 (RL3), in the day-to-day functions of the team, and to deputise in their absence

• Assisting the NDT Level 3 (RL3) in prioritising tasks and scheduling requirements

• Assisting the NDT Level 3 (RL3) in the development of the team

• Ensuring company core values are always maintained

• Achieve optimal aircraft maintenance performance; maintain excellent customer and stakeholder relations

• Other tasks as set by the NDT Technician Level 3 (RL3) or AMM, that are considered to be within the capabilities of the individual and required as part of the daily running of the engineering department

 Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous NDT experience, ideally within aircraft maintenance.
  • Qualified to PCN/AERO scheme and BS EN ISO 9712 & EN4179 Level 2 in:
  • Fluorescent Dye Penetrant (FPI)
  • Eddy Current (EC)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Strong NDT/aerospace product knowledge.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Suite, Aero-Trac preferred).
  • Understanding of aircraft maintenance regulatory requirements.
  • Aerospace experience

Preferred:

  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MP)
  • Radiography (RT)
  • Dassault NDT engineer training for specialist processes
  • Apprenticeship or HM Forces equivalent training
  • Experience in continuous improvement environments

Additional Requirements:

  • Security clearance compliant with UK/ITAR.
  • Basic financial and project management understanding.
