The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Repair Support Engineer to join our Mobile Repair Team. This pivotal role supports the Team Leader in ensuring the safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence of aircraft structural repair activities under Part 145/A8-23 regulations. You’ll play a key part in delivering contractual commitments to our customers while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a Safety First approach in all operations, aligned with SHE standards.
- Support and deputise for the Team Leader – Mobile Repair Team.
- Act as a focal point for aircraft structural repair advice and technical guidance.
- Perform and assure structural repair activities including:
- Damage assessment and OEM/TCH data reporting.
- Liaison with OEM/TCH for technical queries and feedback.
- Measurement, reporting, and progression of repairs (e.g., drilling, riveting).
- Task breakdown and accurate activity recording.
- Collaborate with Aircraft Supervisors and Certifying Engineers to ensure compliance.
- Forecast material/resource needs and coordinate with procurement.
- Assist with interdepartmental work requests and Base Maintenance activities.
- Support Safety Occurrence Reports, audits, and compliance monitoring.
- Promote the Company Safety Management System (SMS) and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in aircraft structural and mechanical engineering.
- Strong background in structural repair and metalwork fabrication.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks including:
- ISO 9001, Part 145, A8/23, Part 21G
- ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001
- Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Excellent time management and organisational abilities.
- Customer-focused with a proactive and confident approach.
- Medically fit to perform engineering duties.
Qualifications:
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent formal training.
- BTEC, ONC, HNC or similar engineering qualification.
- Over 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance or workshop environments.
- Relevant aircraft type or general familiarisation training.
