About the Role
As a Type Airworthiness Engineer (TAE), you will support the DAOS ASCDO in managing all aspects of Type Airworthiness and coordinating modification activities for a range of Military Registered Air Systems. Your primary responsibility will be assisting the Head of Airworthiness (HoA) in maintaining compliance with MAA Regulatory Articles (RA) 1000 and 5000 series, ensuring continued approval as a DAOS ASCDO in accordance with RA 1014 and RA 5850.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Air System Platform Integrity as per RA 5720 series.
- Generate and review Platform Integrity Management documents (e.g., AISD).
- Prepare documentation and support biannual PIWG and PSP meetings.
- Draft and review Support Policy Statements and supplementary procedures.
- Support Ageing Aircraft Audits and ODR/OLM activities.
- Create and review SOI/SOIU documents and validate usage.
- Monitor Air System occurrence reports for integrity threats.
- Review civil Airworthiness Directives (AD) and Service Bulletins (SB).
- Create and manage Special Instructions (Technical) [SI(T)].
- Generate technical procedures and manage air system documentation sets.
- Liaise with external organisations (e.g., MOD Delivery Teams) and attend meetings.
- Provide SME input on Type Airworthiness and modification processes.
- Manage modification processes and generate specifications for sub-system equipment.
- Support through-life configuration management of air systems.
- Collaborate with CAMO, Part 145, and Aircrew teams.
Core Competencies
- Experience in airworthiness environments, preferably military Type Airworthiness.
- Ability to interpret and apply airworthiness regulations practically.
- Knowledge of civil and military Continuing Airworthiness Management (EASA Part M, MRP Part M).
- Understanding of maintenance requirements (EASA Part 145, MRP Part 145).
- Familiarity with MRCOA philosophy.
- Competent in generating technical documents for HoA review.
- Understanding of Safety Assessments and Goal Structuring Notation (GSN).
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Degree/HND/HNC/OND in mechanical or aeronautical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Membership of a professional engineering body desirable (IEng preferred).
- Rotary Wing Air System background advantageous.
