Aircraft Engineer - Mechanical

We are currently recruiting for an Aircraft Engineer - Mechanical to support the maintenance and servicing of company aircraft under the supervision of a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1). This role is responsible for carrying out aircraft maintenance activities safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, approved maintenance data, and company procedures.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety, airworthiness, and operational readiness, while actively contributing to a strong safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support aircraft maintenance activities under the direction of a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1).
• Carry out aircraft servicing, scheduled maintenance, daily inspections, defect rectification, repairs, component replacements, and aircraft reconfiguration activities.
• Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with approved OEM maintenance data, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and within required timescales, including worksheets, work cards, and electronic maintenance records.
• Report additional defects or maintenance requirements identified during tasks to the supervising Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
• Maintain compliance with tool control, foreign object prevention, and loose article procedures.
• Ensure all tools, test equipment, and ground support equipment are serviceable, calibrated, and fit for purpose before use.
• Support aircraft receipt, dispatch, servicing, refuelling, and ground movement activities as directed.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness within hangars, workshops, and operational areas.
• Apply risk assessments and safe systems of work to all maintenance activities.
• Actively participate in the Safety Management System (SMS) by reporting hazards, incidents, and opportunities for safety improvement.
• Assist with workplace inspections and support the rectification of identified findings.
• Provide support to maintenance operations at locations away from the home base when required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope and capability of the role.

Experience & Skills

Essential

• Completed Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent recognised engineering qualification.
• Good technical English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Basic mathematics and physics knowledge.
• Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals, maintenance publications, and procedures.
• Experience using hand tools and basic aircraft maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong understanding of safe working practices and the application of risk assessments.
• IT literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain strong working relationships.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Physically fit and medically capable of carrying out aircraft maintenance duties.
• Customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and support aircraft recoveries when required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance in line with UK and ITAR requirements.
• Human Factors awareness and understanding.

Desirable

• Previous experience working within military, commercial, or service aircraft maintenance environments.
• Experience maintaining pressurised and/or unpressurised aircraft.
• Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS).
• Previous experience supporting aircraft operations away from a main operating base.
• Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of aircraft ground handling and movement procedures.
• Experience working within highly regulated aviation maintenance environments.
