This is achieved through effective coordination within Integrated Delivery Teams and through collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering functions, including Design Office, CAMO, Manufacturing, and Part 145 MRO. The EDM serves as the principal authority on engineering decisions related to programme fleet delivery, ensuring sustainable support, maintaining fleet size, promoting reliability, and managing obsolescence from an engineering perspective.

The EDM also provides key input for bid work and development activities to Programme Managers/Directors, maintaining a direct relationship with the Programme while being internally focused.

The nature of the work requires an element of flexibility to achieve effective execution with an often geographically dispersed team.

  • Lead technical teams and validate solutions to ensure requirements are met.
  • Manage engineering risks, opportunities, and technical challenges, implementing effective mitigation plans.
  • Support bid activities, including technical solution development, customer engagement, and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor programme performance against agreed cost, quality, schedule, and KPI targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Engineering functions.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across the business.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Special Conditions

  • Occasional out-of-hours working to support business requirements.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties within the scope of the role.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or recognised apprenticeship in Aeronautical, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience in multi-disciplinary teams within a complex, highly regulated environment.
  • Experience delivering complex engineering programmes and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong ability to analyse technical information and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience within the Aerospace and/or Defence sector.
  • Knowledge of UK CAA and Defence (MAA) regulatory frameworks.
  • Project management experience.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience identifying technical issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
