The Role
We are recruiting for a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B1 & B2) to support the Crew Chief in ensuring the safety, regulatory compliance and operational performance of all Part‑145/A8‑23 aircraft maintenance activities across the Aircraft Maintenance Department and detached locations. This role is essential to delivering high‑quality maintenance services that meet customer contractual requirements. The LAE (B1 & B2) will also contribute to engineering decision‑making and provide guidance to support both individual and team development.

The B1 & B2 LAE will be expected to champion a safety‑first culture, ensuring the highest standards of regulatory compliance across all areas of responsibility. Promoting SHE and Security practices in relation to fleet maintenance activities is fundamental.
Because operational activities are aligned to customer requirements, flexibility is essential. The successful candidate must be prepared to work additional hours when required and undertake detachments within the UK and overseas to support the effective delivery of maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safety First
- Operate in full accordance with Draken’s SHE Technical Standards, always applying safe systems of work relevant to assigned tasks and operations.

Aircraft Maintenance & Operational Delivery
- Maintain the overall performance of aircraft maintenance activities and personnel at the assigned station, ensuring:
- Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Adherence to a “Just Culture” and proactive occurrence reporting
- Take responsibility for the maintenance of aircraft and allocated aircraft equipment, as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
- Support aircraft operations and maintenance at the main base and on worldwide detachments.
- Oversee and conduct safe ground movements of aircraft assigned to your control.
- Ensure all technical staff under your supervision carry out tasks safely, correctly, and in accordance with Maintenance Manuals and the Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all aircraft documentation relating to maintenance activities.
- Co‑ordinate engineering activities to enable the team to meet targets and work within budget.
Team Leadership & Development
- Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to the Crew Chief.
- Maintain clean, organised, and safe working areas at all times.
- Evaluate current standards, practices, and procedures, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and increased efficiency.
- Assist the Crew Chief in day‑to‑day team management and deputise during their absence.
- Support the Crew Chief in task prioritisation, scheduling, and team development.

Compliance & Professional Standards
- Maintain high levels of customer and stakeholder engagement, ensuring strong working relationships and optimal aircraft maintenance performance.
- Proactively monitor and maintain your authorisations, ensuring recency and ongoing compliance at all times.

Education & Vocational Qualifications
- Previous experience within an aircraft maintenance environment (line, base, or workshop) is essential.
- Unrestricted CAA Part‑66 B1 and B2 licences, with relevant type ratings and/or company authorisations as applicable.
- A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in an aircraft maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements relating to aircraft maintenance.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong communication, team‑building, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Ability to motivate colleagues and influence positive change in alignment with organisational values.
- Experience of, or exposure to, continuous improvement activities or projects is desirable.
